"Returned it on day 1, mine didn’t inflate to 38mm, it may have reached 20mm tops. Would be fine if you don’t need padding and use on soft ground. Otherwise, don’t use."
Deflates after a few uses
"Initially is worked fine. After only a handfull of uses over a few years the valve constantly leaks and doesn't hold air. Not want you want when out camping. Cannot find a replacement valve so will have to bin it. I spent the money and bought a STS Camp Plus mat with a better valve system."

Died very young
"This mat was only 12mths old and failed catastrophically while on the Kokoda Track. The seemingly indestructible brass screw-type air-valve failed to hold air - the mat deflated in seconds. The valve being a press-sealed unit, any repair on-the-fly was impossible. I couldn't be bothered returning it under ACL 2011 for a refund. The damage has been done. It failed when I needed it most - on the track. I trusted a Kathmandu product would be at least reasonable quality. So disappointing. Steer well clear."

- How long does it take to fully inflate?
- While this can depend on how long the mat has been rolled up for, or if its brand new or not, but we estimated usually around 30mins.
- We bought a Ascent 38 Mats few years ago and forgot how to inflate it. Would you please remind me how? I do not remember I used a pump, and there is a word like self-inflating?
