Our top 3 tips
To maintain the performance and longevity of your expensive outdoor apparel and equipment, you need specialist care. The Granger's gear care collection at Kathmandu provides essential cleaning, waterproofing, and odour-eliminating products designed specifically for technical fabrics like GORE-TEX, eVent, and down insulation. Regular cleaning and re-proofing with Grangers ensures your gear continues to breathe, repel water, and perform as it should.
Whether you need a wash-in solution to restore DWR (Durable Water Repellency) on your rain jacket or a cleaner to revitalise your footwear, Grangers offers easy-to-use, environmentally responsible formulations. Don't let dirt and grease compromise your gear's performance—trust Grangers to restore optimal function.
Grangers' wash-in reproofers work by restoring the water-repellent coating on your outer gear. Over time, dirt and oil break down this coating, causing water to soak into the fabric ("wetting out"). Grangers products bond to the fabric fibres, revitalising the DWR and ensuring water beads up and rolls off again, keeping you dry.
The range includes dedicated cleaning and waterproofing products for technical footwear materials, as well as specialised down wash. Using standard household detergents on down products or technical jackets can strip their essential oils or clog their pores. Grangers provides the right chemistry to clean effectively without damaging critical materials.
You should wash your technical garment when you notice it "wetting out" (absorbing water instead of repelling it) or when it becomes visibly dirty. This is typically after 10–12 uses.
Yes. Grangers products are formulated to be safe and effective in domestic washing machines. Make sure to clean out the detergent dispenser first to remove any residue from standard household detergents.
Wash-in reproofers treat the entire garment surface and are easy to apply. Spray-on products are better for treating specific, high-wear areas (like shoulders) or for garments with non-absorbent liners (like sleeping bags).
Grangers is committed to sustainability, offering many PFC-free (perfluorochemical-free) and bluesign® approved formulations, ensuring they have a minimal impact on the environment.
