Her Trails - Empowering Women Through Nature and Movement

In a world that often demands us to juggle multiple roles, it's alarmingly easy to lose touch with our own selves. Women, particularly, encounter unique challenges that often culminate in burnout, a sense of isolation, and a yearning for connection and self-discovery. Her Trails is not merely a running group; it's a movement dedicated to empowering women by harnessing the healing powers of nature and physical activity. It's about enabling women to go beyond their comfort zones, tap into their untapped potential - yet do it in a sustainable and supportive way.

Her Trails offers more than just a running program; it provides a comprehensive, female-specific journey designed by women, for women. This includes an annual membership as well as holistic trail running programs that expertly blend run programming with strength training, yoga, mobility, and mindset coaching.

Our members receive their program weekly through their membership dashboard, also accessible via an app. These weekly modules are meticulously crafted to provide insights into nutrition, female health, the role of hormones, physical therapy, recovery, and engaging your broader support network - all tailored to the unique needs of women. Sessions are explained, terrains recommended, and our weekly live coaching sessions provide a platform for members to ask questions and receive personalised support from our expert coaching team.

In addition, Her Trails also hosts immersive adventure retreats and inclusive group runs across Australia and New Zealand, creating an environment of empowerment, self-discovery, and community building. We are committed to enabling women to push their boundaries and achieve goals beyond their wildest dreams.

We've had the privilege of engaging with some of these incredible women, and they have graciously shared their insights and experiences with Her Trails, shedding light on the transformative power of nature and movement.

Nature has long been a sanctuary for those seeking solace, inspiration, and healing. Its therapeutic effects are well documented, including reduced stress, improved mood, and promotion of physical well-being.

Similarly, movement is not only about physical fitness but also mental well-being. Activities like running, hiking, and yoga clear the mind, release endorphins, and instill a sense of accomplishment. For women, immersing oneself in nature and engaging in physical activity can be especially empowering.

As Kate from Sydney noted, "Women supporting women in outdoor spaces changes lives." Kate has completed several of our Her Trails programs and attended our adventure retreats in the Larapinta region and Bruny Island. She is now training with us for the Bondi to Manly relay, an event where we will have over 100 women from our community come together!

Amy from Victoria discovered the impact of nature and movement during our 20-week 50km training program for Ultra Trail Australia. She shared,

"I'm happiest when I can run regularly, and I now know that green spaces are important to my mental health. I can also appreciate that I am worth pushing my boundaries and spending time on myself."

The journey to self-discovery often involves unlearning negative beliefs about ourselves and our capabilities. Through positive experiences, we can start to remove the invisible rules we’ve created about ourselves that often stem from childhood and still rear themselves into adulthood. Nature and movement can facilitate this process by providing an opportunity for reflection, reconnection, challenging ourselves, and healing.

Nature allows us to disconnect from the chaos of everyday life and reconnect with ourselves. It provides a space for reflection, perspective, and re-evaluation of our priorities.

As Tilla from Melbourne shared, "The Her Trails running groups are the most inclusive, friendly, and fun group of friends you never knew you had or needed."

Physical activities challenge us both physically and mentally, pushing us out of our comfort zones, testing our limits, and forcing us to confront our fears. Overcoming these challenges boosts self-esteem and develops a greater sense of self-efficacy.

Vicky from Adelaide discovered the transformative power of nature and its challenges:

"Being outside is where I feel most alive and at peace with myself. It has taught me that I am enough just as I am, and that stepping out of my comfort zone is not only beneficial but necessary for growth."

Participating in activities that challenge both the body and mind is essential for personal growth and renewal. Her Trails provides an inclusive environment that encourages individuals at all stages of their running journey while simultaneously fostering self-discovery.

Lyndal from Sydney, who participated in the 21.1km and Bondi to Manly relay program, succinctly described her experience:

"It is an inclusive place for people to start running, return to running, or improve their running. It is a place to learn more about yourself as a human being."

This nurturing environment, combined with the rhythmic motion of walking or running, contribute to a profound sense of renewal. Furthermore, the support and encouragement from the Her Trails community fosters a sense of belonging and self-worth, crucial elements for personal growth and renewal.

Finding your Supportive Community

One of the critical components of Her Trails is the sense of community it provides. It is not just a group of women running together; it is a sisterhood that supports, encourages, and uplifts one another.

Sam from Sydney shared, "Joining Her Trails was like finding my tribe. I've met some amazing women who have become close friends, and I feel supported in areas of my life that extend far beyond the run," highlighting the profound impact that a sense of belonging to a community can have on our mental well-being and overall happiness.

The sense of belonging can have a profound impact on our mental well-being and overall happiness. It can reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, foster a sense of purpose, and provide a network of support during challenging times.

The journey to self-discovery is deeply personal, but nature and movement can provide the tools and environment to facilitate the process. Renee from Sydney emphasised the importance of the Her Trails sisterhood at a time of "universal disconnection, isolation, and loneliness."

Kim from the Gold Coast summarised the impact of Her Trails beautifully:

"Connections with other women who share a passion for outdoor adventure is uplifting. Her Trails women are supportive of each other in life's ups & downs, as well as in running/adventuring. As women, we need to see & experience more of this. Life is a journey, full of various chapters and seasons. When you have a tribe of amazing women behind you, anything is possible!"

Her Trails is not just about running; it's about empowerment, self-discovery, and community. It's about supporting and uplifting each other. Together, we can redefine our limits and craft lives that we are proud to live.
