The Lansan Ultralight is perfect for people who want a weatherproof, lightweight and highly-spec'd tent, not a theme park with poles. This 2-person tent is designed for light and fast hiking, cycle-touring and travel. It's simple and streamlined, with super-lightweight materials that meet our demanding performance standards, making it an excellent safeguard from the elements. Take it with you while tramping into the interior, or pack it up to explore new countries. This lightweight tunnel tent is quick and easy to set up, with DAC Featherlite NSL alloy poles. The breathable inner can be pitched on its own in fine weather, or combined with the waterproof, seam-sealed fly-sheet. An added vestibule means there's plenty of space for two people and their gear. It's everything you need, with nothing extra to weigh you down. Compare Kathmandu Tents & Shelters.

Great for thru hiking

"Great value for money. I used this tent walking Te Araroa Cape Reinga to National Park. Easy to put up and enough room to have all my gear in with me at night. Although it would be tight for two people. Withstood torrential rain multiple nights and 90km wind gusts on 90 mile beach. In my opinion the only design fault is when wet and you open the fly water drips straight into the tent."

Reliable tent

"Perfect for hiking. Easy to use. Is quite tight for two people. Stands up in high back country wind."

review

"Told I would receive a gift. Gift didn't arrive with goods. Was told if I travel over 300km I could collect it. That's not satisfactory. It leaves a sense of resentment. The product was good and the process of buying it was straight forward, however, I note that the ticket that was on the product when I received it had a price of $100 (approx - I didn't keep the ticket) less than I paid for it (at the price advertised on line) this also makes me feel resentful."

Beautiful Tent

"The tent is lightweight. I just wonder how I would pitch it when I am on a surface such as rock. I have not had the chance to use it yet, but I am so very happy to have had the opportunity to buy the tent."

Viola D. (4/5)

Does the job but not quality

"This is a lightweight tent. True. It withstand high winds and rain etc. . . however the material is lighter than a black garbage bag. . . and is literally thin plastic. One flame and up you go! It doesn't have enough air with the cover on. It's not big enough for two ppl. It feels like sleeping in a cheap plastic sheath. Not worth the money in my opinion. I was disappointed in the quality and design. It does the job but better alternatives on the market. Cheap plastic light tent that is good for hiking sleep get up and go, but not fot holiday camping."

Vanessa (3/5)

Do not recommend.

"Do NOT recommend this tent. Interesting to note the cheaper price, but don't be fooled, this tent is completely unreliable. Third time using it and the fly door ripped along the zip. The fly and floor do not keep out even minimal rain. The only thing going for this tent is it's weight, but what good is a light tent if you and your gear end up wet? I owned an earlier Lansan Light tent (c. 2009) and it was solid. This latest iteration is a disaster."

Ricky (1/5)

Excellent lightweight tent. Not free-standing

"Awesome tent for a good price. You can get lighter tents, but cost curve tends to get pretty steep at this price point. Of note it's not freestanding - meaning that if you're relying on platforms, you're going to struggle (it can be done but it's a headache). Not a huge downside, but it's not stated clearly. The front and back need to be tensioned against each other to remain upright."

Robert (5/5)

Waterproof

"I've had this tent for a few years and it's been great! It doesnt come with quite enough tent pegs! But I've camped in windy conditions and its been great! And its super waterproof! Completely dry camping in 15cm of rain and woke up in a puddle!"

Sam P. (5/5)

Not Great

"I have owned 3 Kathmandu tents previously, and have in each case found they exceeded expectations. The Lansan was a replacement for a Northstar which had done 25 years of really solid service all over the world - from desert to alpine conditions. I took the Lansan tent hiking in very mild conditions over summer, and it did not meet even basic expectations. The floor material is not sufficiently waterproof, and even dew on the grass left the inside of the floor feeling damp. The tunnel design means every guy rope and peg must be very carefully placed and tightened to ensure the fly does not touch the inner - a long and fiddly process. The tent is certainly lightweight, but I compared the Lansan to other even lighter (albeit more expensive) tents which others were using on the same hike, and the competition had drier floors, easier pitching and good fly/inner separation. If you need a mission-critical lightweight tent, spend a little more."

Perfect for one

"Bought this the other day as a hunting tent. Packs up small super light and easy to set up pack up. Took it out over the weekend for 2 nights of which both days it rained consistently and only real issue was when I opened the fly to get in or out the opening is is past the tent opening and allows rain directly in the tent. I also wouldn't call it a 2 person tent if you have gear as well as my pack needed to be beside me but works for me for what I want"

Q&A

Hi, is there a temperature range for this tent?
Hey, No this doesn't have a temperature rating. Thank you
Do you have spare parts. Namely a replacemnt fly. Mine has just been eaten by a lawn mower
Please email support@kathmandu.co.nz regarding the spare parts.
My tent bag was torn crossing a thin swingbridge. Are there any replacement bags that can be purchased?
Hi Elizabeth, This is not something that we stock in our stores , however if you are able to drop into your local store they may be able to source one of these for you.
What is the warranty for this tent? Ie for the poles, waterproof seams.
There is a 3 year warranty on all of our tents, as well as following Consumer Law in both AU and NZ.
I need to replace the tent poles.(Lost on a hard part of a cycle trek). Where do I go to find these or the dimensions of them?
You can purchase these poles separately from our website. Enter 'Lansan Ultralight Pole' in the search bar to locate these. The dimensions for the green pole (front pole) are 26.4cm The dimensions for the grey (rear) pole are 23.6cm
