Disappointed!
"Waited for it to finally appear on sale for nearly a year - but it's simply not as good as the previous version I bought back in 2011 and which has been my main winter coat every year for 14 years! (It still looks good which is a testament to the great manufacturing) On this new version, the ripstop fabric isn't as thick, the zip pulls are cheaper, there's no fleece on the arm cuffs and the stitched tailoring has disappeared giving a much bulkier appearance along with a couple of other bits. I was really looking forward to owning the new version for another 14 years - but the disappointment of it not being the great coat I know it can be (combined with the price going up A LOT!) makes me undecided if I want to keep it or now try a rival brand. Sorry but 'shrinkflation' strikes again."

Q&A
- Will this jacket keep me warm enough in lapland, Finland? I will be hiking mostly, not skiing. I have been told the temperatures could reach -20ºC.
- We don't temperature rate our jackets so have no information on what temperature it can keep you warm at due to the many variables to that equation.
- Where is this jacket made. I hope it’s not China?

- Has this got a waist draw cord to cinch the waist?
- No sorry, this does not have a cord to cinch the waist
- Is the DWR coating PFC free?
- No sorry, the DWR finish that is used on our jackets does still contain PFCs, we use a solution that is C6 WR treatment which is better than the generic C8 solution, but does still contain lower levels of PFCs. We would like to be able to use PFC free Water Repellent treatments but the durability is not yet up to scratch so it does not currently meet our performance standard.
- Are Is the Epiq coat washable? And if so, will it require re-proofing each time?
- Yes these jackets are definitely washable. 1. Machine-wash your down jacket on a gentle cycle at 30 degrees °C. 2. Carefully remove your down jacket and lay flat to dry on a clothing rack. 3. Put it in the tumble drier on a low heat. 4. Throw in two to three tennis balls, or Granger’s drying balls. 5. Gently fluff up the down jacket. For more specific information on this, please refer to our Help Centre (down the bottom of the page) then select Product Information and then Product Care and it will bring up the articles on down care and how to re water proof. In terms of re-water proofing, you will not need to do this every time you wash the jacket, just when you feel it is time to re-proof.
