Sleeping under the stars? It’s pure magic. But let’s face it—every adventure comes with its risks. Whether you’re hiking rugged trails or setting up camp in the bush, a well-stocked first aid kit can be a game-changer. Not sure where to start? A two-person first aid kit is a fantastic foundation, but if you’re packing your own, we’ve got you covered with a checklist of essentials.

Medicines to keep handy

First up, creams. When you’re caught in a sticky situation in the great outdoors, these medications are your heroes:

  • Antiseptic cream: Your number one camping first aid essential.
  • Cold and flu medications: For those unwelcome sniffles and chills.
  • Anti-inflammatory meds and antihistamines: Essential for managing allergic reactions and swelling.
  • Bug spray: Keep sandflies, mozzies, and other bitey bugs at bay.

Bandages

Disinfecting your wound is step one. Covering it is step two. Here’s what to pack to protect cuts, scrapes, and sprains:

  • Adhesive bandages: Grab a variety of sizes.
  • Cloth bandages: Ideal for supporting sprains.
  • Blister bandages: Stay pain-free for the rest of your trip.
  • Gauze and scissors: For tricky wounds that need extra care.
  • Heat pads and emergency blankets: Vital for unexpected situations.
