Questions & Answers
How water resistant is the pack?
Asked by: James T
The main & secondary fabric used has a water repellent film applied to it which is up to 10k, however the overall bag is not seam sealed so water can still get inside. As such we do recommend either a bag liner, or a pack cover if you are expecting it to be wet.

I have a Vardo Gridtech v1. First time used, having owned for some years.
Where is the outlet from within the pack to the outside for the Hydrapak delivery tube
Any other tips for storing things etc with the many straps etc
Thank You
Asked by: Squcha
The older v1 model does not have outlet hole for the hydration bladder hose. The v1 model has a hook and elastic pocket inside the pack which is compatible with a 3l bladder.

Strap broke while trampingOne of the shoulder straps broke in the middle of a multi day tramp. For the money you pay for this, it is completely unexpected. Look elsewhere.

I brought this pack for a multi day hike. I was very disappointed with the pack. It was very uncomfortable. The straps are hard and offer no cushioning. I ended up having a bruised lower back after two days, I used a thick woolen vest for padding for the following 3 days. This solved the problem.

Excellent pack for the Overland TrackI recently purchased this pack after staff recommended it to me for the Overland Track in Tasmania. All I can say is: "It was great!". The pack was both comfortable and durable and still looks brand new despite the harsh conditions on the hike. (Hiked - Nov 2019)

Expected betterI bought this pack on line at a sale price so I was happy with the price but I have had problems with pack specially over multi day hikes. There are certain aspects of the pack which are good but other aspects which I’m not happy about. It can’t handle a heavy load in that it squeaks as you move which I think is the material rubbing on the support strips and which is really annoying. The shoulder adjustment straps continually slip and as a another reviewer said your shoulders begin to hurt at the end of the day. You also have to keep a eye on the the side pockets because if you don’t have your items secured properly in the Pocket and the strap properly positioned things will pop out specially when you take the pack off or put it on. Ultimately I’m disappointed with it and looking to sell it.

Durable, Comfortable and Roomy!I have worked with Kathmandu for a year now, and purchased this pack for my hiking set up.
This was a great choice!! I have not been disappointed. This pack has been on quite a few multi-day hikes in Australia and New Zealand now.
It easily had enough room for all my gear during 3-5 night treks. The harness is weight bearing and left me without a single blister, super comfortable.
Dragged through thick bush, thrown from ledges, this pack took a beating and hasn't got a single hole!
I used the removable daypack almost every day, carrying my first aid kit, water and food anytime I left camp.
I would highly recommend this pack to anyone putting together a hiking kit.
