Salomon Sense Marin Men's Trail Running Shoes is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoe Out of the box was one of the best shoes I have ever run in... I have tried other Salomon shoes and they have been between/alright and terrible.. (often to tight through the mid foot.) This shoe was beyond what I could have dreamed of.... Light, smooth, soft with great amount of grip. I'm going to go as far as say it might be the best shoe I have ever had. This coming from a guy who goes through about 9 sets of running shoes a year. To early to tell yet but I hope i feel the same in a couple of months

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snug as a glove! I've also rated Salomon shoes highly, with an exceptional tension system your foot feels well placed every time. The sense has a softer toe than other models & a generous toe box for added comfort. Highly recommend for entry level + trail runners out there :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoe for the Kathmandu Coast to Coast Mt Run I was eagerly anticipating this shoes arrival as it was the first opportunity to try out the new Wet Traction Contagrip rubber that Salomon has rolled out across some of it’s range. I was slightly disappointed to see the sole coloured and not black as usually this has meant poor grip on slippery rocks from experience. However my disappointment was short lived, as once I started trialling them through rivers and over rocks I could feel the major difference in the new sole and they proved excellent on wet rocks and roots, which for the Coast to Coast run is vital. The tread is well spaced and although not overly aggressive works well in a variety of conditions and trail surfaces. The remainder of the shoe reminded me very much of the original XA pro which is still one of my all time favourite shoes (which was very much a running shoe as opposed to the new generation XA Pro which is more of an Adventure trekking shoe). The cushioning is relatively soft and consistent throughout the shoe. The drop is 6mm that is a good low/mid range drop, and although the protection under the forefoot is relatively light it provides just enough protection that you can bash over rocks without too many issues or pain. The Marin is quite wide, especially in the forefoot, which suits my feet but may prove a little wide for those with narrow feet. Because of the width of the forefoot I found the sides of my feet didn’t excessively contact rocks and obstacles meaning although the upper has relatively little protection I didn’t find my feet were getting bashed up. The upper drains quickly and the Salomon quick lace system functioned great as usual. I also like the fact the tongue and lace garage are small and slim so there is nothing extra to get weighted down when in and out of rivers during a run. Weight was a little under 300grams per pair (USA 10.5) which surprised me as they felt lighter than this, I would certainly not balk at using these in a competitive race and especially on really rough wet and rocky courses where they excel the balance between protection and comfort versus weight seems spot on. From a wear point of view I used these over the summer and completed around 150km on the Kathmandu Coast to Coast run course which is about as tough a training ground as you will find, plus a range of more trail orientated runs probably put the mileage at around 400km. The sole was showing obvious signs of wear as you’d expect with a soft compound rubber to grip on the wet rocks but there was still plenty of life left in the sole – maybe another 400km. The upper had also stood up very well given the terrain with no major issues and would definitely expect the upper to match the sole for further wear expectancy Overall I was really impressed with the Salomon Sense Marin and it will definitely become a shoe I know I can turn too as a one-stop trail shoe that can do a bit of everything, but that excels when it is going to be wet rocky and slippery.
