Definitely keeps you dry no matter whatI received an XT Alopex jacket from "Kathmandu" last year preparing for my 3-month trekking trip to Nepal and India. It's an impressive piece of clothing that has proved to be highly functional and completely weatherproof (tested by the craziest weather in Nepal and India).
Weather Protection - 10/10
Completely weatherproof! I wore it in an infamous wind tunnel of Kaligandaki river in Mustang, in a hail storm in Ladakh, India, while trekking up to a 5800 m pass and on regular rainy days while trekking in Nepal.
Breathability - 9/10
GORE-TEX fabric this jacket is made of is extremely breathable (also the third layer is very helpful in redistributing the moisture). Sometimes it would become quite hot during some intense trekking but the underarm vent zips were really helpful.
Mobility - 7/10
The jacket is a bit crinkly but I guess it will change with time. I'd really like some change in a front zipper as it is a bit too stiff for my liking.
Also, I can't call the front pockets backpack-friendly (anything you put there, be it a phone or a beanie, will end up on the bottom of the pockets and pressed against your hips with a backpack belt) and easy to reach in (I think could be changed by repositioning the pockets diagonally).
Features - 8/10
The front zipper is made of plastic, it's quite stiff and hard to move, can be pretty frustrating when your fingers are frozen and you can't zip the jacket up.
However, the zippers in the front pockets, side pockets, and underarm vents run smoothly as they are made of a different material.
The jacket has got plenty of pockets that can fit anything from an energy bar or keys to a wallet, beanie or a smartphone. Features like a cloth to wipe your glasses or your phone, a little keyring inside one of the pockets or a pocket on one of the sleeves plus useful details like a chinguard actually make this jacket a very well-thought-out piece of adventure clothing.
Weight and compression - 10/10
The jacket is extremely lightweight, packs well and doesn't take much space in a backpack.

My new favourite jacket!I got this jacket about a year ago but have only just recently had the chance to give it a good workout. I work as a full time travel photographer and I'm always in different temperatures and environments. This year the Alopex came with me to Patagonia and it was the best thing ever. It's a shell so it's perfect for hiking, I can strip layers off or add them underneath but stay dry and protected with this jacket on. It also has loads of pockets, which I stuffed with snacks, spare batteries, beanie and neck warmer, gloves, tissues and anything else I needed to access easily on the trails.
