Mummy

Mummy bags, with their wider cut shoulders and narrow feet are the most efficient when it comes to weight and warmth. These bags conform more closely to your shape and only require minimal body heat to warm up. They encase you ‘like a mummy’ and may be restrictive and less roomy than other bags.

Semi-Rectangular

Semi-Rectangular bags with their tapered foot (more room than the Mummy) and contoured hood are a good compromise. These bags provide ample sleeping space at the torso for comfort.

Rectangular

Rectangular types offer more space and are cooler than others, letting you move easily within the bag. Because of the larger top opening, heat can escape more easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value. I have had a number of Kathmandu sleeping bags over the years. All good.I thought the quality had slipped after the first 2 nights in this one. I then discovered I had it inside out. All OK after that though.Care does definitely need to be taken when zipping them up. And the zip is usually what fails after extended use. Thats mostly the case with all gear, and where would we be without them?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, light and comfy I bought this sleeping bag after a bad experience in the cold with my previous bag. Well this one seriously made up for it, so warm that, staying in a hut during a winter tramp high up in the Ruahine ranges, I had to open the bag to let cool air in. The down made it significantly lighter than my old bag as well. Only downside is that the zip does easily get caught in the fabric so you have to be careful opening it, not a huge issue though because the fabric being puffy around the zip means that it is also providing insulation there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and comfortable My son walked the southwest track in Tasmania in November. It was very wet and windy pretty much the whole hike. The sleeping bag was perfect for this trip, warm and comfortable, and my son had 12 hours of great sleep pretty much every night.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not warm enough when it's under 0 deg Have owned this for a few years now and every time we camp and it's 0 or below I'm so disappointed. I have to wear 3 layers of clothing to not be awake shivering all night and I'm normally fine in the cold. I literally have to bring a warm set of clothes specifically for sleeping. For such an expensive sleeping bag I expected a lot more.
