Mummy bags, with their wider cut shoulders and narrow feet are the most efficient when it comes to weight and warmth. These bags conform more closely to your shape and only require minimal body heat to warm up. They encase you ‘like a mummy’ and may be restrictive and less roomy than other bags.

Semi-Rectangular bags with their tapered foot (more room than the Mummy) and contoured hood are a good compromise. These bags provide ample sleeping space at the torso for comfort.

Rectangular types offer more space and are cooler than others, letting you move easily within the bag. Because of the larger top opening, heat can escape more easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Weight advertised is a bit off. I got the LargeFIT, promoted as a 1.38kg bag. Its actual weight is 1.51kg...after removing the washing bag... so a bit misleading. Not great if weight is important to you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for value, size is loooong Is warm in 3 seasons even for a cold sleeper, when combined with correct sleeping pad and has clothes filling dead air around the feet(I use a down jacket). After reading the other guy's review on it never drying after washing, and it sounding like his down started to rot, I vowed to never clean the bag for fear of ruining it so... no review on cleaning. It doesn't pack down well because of the polyester base, as expected, but compared to the next value-warmth bag from Kathmandu... the camper -8 (which is a behemoth of a bag) it's good packability for money. The regular is waaay long. Women beware!! This bag will have a giant pocket of dead air by the feet if you are regular height woman. So if you are looking for a super duper warm bag (ie pockets of cold air in a bag are not your friend) this is prob not the bag for you. For context I am 161cm. In the picture I have slipped down into the bag so my feet are in a neutral position and barely touching the end of the bag... and my face is being completely smothered. My scalp barely pokes out of the hood opening, not that you even can see it in the photo. I think the warmth, packability and weight are good for value so I'm happy with my purchase. I got this for 3 season camping since I run cold and it's worked well. A size "small" would've been nice tho.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is certainly very warm!! I am pleased with this sleeping bag. I hate being cold when I sleep and this is perfect. This means I don't have to back extra blankets and duvets as well now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality for price Considering the price, I think this is a good deal. Light enough to take on overnight hikes, warm enough for late winter over nighters. Yes, you could get lighter and smaller, but it'll cost you nearly twice as much. If you're looking for something to keep you warm and light enough to take on overnighters, this is a good introductory bag.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Warm but don’t let it get wet! Bought this a month ago for a multi-day hike & camping trip in winter. It was beautifully warm to sleep in but inevitably it got a bit wet due to the rain. From that moment on it smelt and despite washing it as per the instructions when I got home, it now smells rancid as the water resistant material means it stays waterlogged and won’t dry properly. I rave about Kathmandu normally but this sleeping bag lets them down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from roomy and very warm I had bought another sleeping bag but realised it was not warm enough. The staff were great and I swapped it for another bag. Very warm and I'm set for a trek in Nepal.

Can this sleeping bag be used as a blanket? Is it batter than down sleeping bags when it comes to damp weather camping?

Asked by: Rebecca10
Yes you can, however insulated items such as sleeping bags will keep you a lot warmer if you zip them up. This sleeping bag has both Down feathers throughout the body piece of the bag and Synthetic fill through the foot of the bag. The synthetic fill down the bottom is to help prevent moisture build up around your feet.
