Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not waterproof We purchased this jacket for use during the Milford Sound track. Was soaked after an hour of rain. Khatmandu should not sell this as waterproof, maybe showerproof at best. For the rest comfortable but useless for use on wet tracks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great summer rain jacket I’m always sceptical when something says waterproof and breathable. But this Jacket is about as close as it gets. Unless your doing the hard hiking in hot wet weather that sweats you up, it will keep you dry. Like any jacket of this type you need to clean it properly and keep it in good condition for the waterproofing to work 100%. But i can get around doing things on the farm in flood level rain and come back dry. Give it a quick shake and it’s dry! Love it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed in waterproof ability I recently hiked the overland in Tasmania and after about 1 hour of consistent but not heavy rainfall my long sleeve shirt was completely damp. Luckily I wasn't hiking in winter. Another person in our group also had a flinders and had the same experience. Do not buy this jacket for multi day hiking if there is any serious rainfall, without huts you could be in a hyporthermic situation. Note people with goretex jackets did not have the same problem. However, given it being so compact and light weight it is still a great day jacket. I thought I should leave this review since there only seems to be positive sentiment about this jacket both online and in store, clearly most salespeople and customers are casual hikers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable, good fit, good look A really good solid sturdy jacket that I expect will perform very well in torrential rain. I havent tested in the field yet so I am uncertain just how breathable it is, but it's a great jacket, one I expect I will get many years of use out of

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for running and hiking in the rain Was looking for a trail running jacket, the lovely service person in store pointed me to this one in the clearance section. Have only worn it once so far in some wind and rain, nicely breathable, pockets sealed up everything nicely. The pockets are higher up and prevents phone etc bouncing around. Will get a full workout through winter next year.

Would this be suitable to mtb riding, looking for something in the highest breathability and moderately waterproof, but not quite as important as keeping cool/ not sweaty inside. Thanks

Asked by: Simple Si
This jacket has a waterproof rating of 20,000 mm and a breathability rating of 40,000 mm - huge breathability rating so would be great to mountain bike in!

Does the outer layer of this jacket require me to treat it with any products in order to maintain it's waterproofing capabilities? Thanks in advance!

Asked by: ManyNewbieQuestions
Depending on how old your jacket is — and how often you use it — you may need to restore the water repellent treatment on the outside of the fabric as DWR can diminish in performance due to a number of factors — like dirt, sweat, abrasion and constant use. There are a couple of options when re-waterproofing your jacket: Wash in: After washing your jacket through a standard cycle, give it another spin with Granger’s Clothing Repel. Select a warm wash at 30 degrees Celsius, and select a standard washing program. Spray on: After washing your waterproof jacket, use a specialised product like Granger’s Performance Repel. Spray directly on the damp garment from a distance of 10–15 centimetres. Wait for two minutes, and wipe away any excess with a clean cloth. Drying: Depending on the advice on your care label, your garment can either air dry or tumble dry. Follow the instructions for the best results.

Just purchased the flinders rain jacket and I'm wanting to know how to pack it like in the photos? Thanks in advanced

Asked by: Jok88
The easiest way is to tuck the jacket arms and hood in, so it forms a bit of a long rectangular shape and then roll it up to fit into the pocket.

how do you suggest rolling the hood up into the collar? Is their a technic ?

Asked by: Anonymous
There is no set technique to roll this hood, normally I fold it in half towards the neckline and then roll so that it is nice and evenly spread and then use the centre back inside label with the elasticated loop and secure in place. See pictures 4 and 5 for visuals on these labels and loops! I hope this helps!
