1. XT Polaris Water Repellent Down Sleeping Bag

XT Polaris Water Repellent Down Sleeping Bag

Kathmandu offer bags in the following sizes:
  Mummy Semi-Rectangular Rectangular
Small 72cm x 197cm
Regular 70cm x 206cm 72cm x 211cm< 76cm x 211cm
Large 72cm x 220cm 74cm x 225cm 78cm x 225cm
Mummy

Mummy bags, with their wider cut shoulders and narrow feet are the most efficient when it comes to weight and warmth. These bags conform more closely to your shape and only require minimal body heat to warm up. They encase you ‘like a mummy’ and may be restrictive and less roomy than other bags.

Semi-Rectangular

Semi-Rectangular bags with their tapered foot (more room than the Mummy) and contoured hood are a good compromise. These bags provide ample sleeping space at the torso for comfort.

Rectangular

Rectangular types offer more space and are cooler than others, letting you move easily within the bag. Because of the larger top opening, heat can escape more easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Snow Camping in Freezing Conditions I brought this sleeping bag almost two years ago and have taken it on many adventures with me. Because I bounce back an forth from NZ to Canada I have had the opportunity to use it in many different weather conditions. I have used it in -25˚C with a semi-waterproof bivy and I stayed warm and dry throughout the night. Although this sleeping bag isn't the smallest, when you compare this to the conditions it is made for it is totally worth it. Kathmandu, again you never fail to disappoint me :)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from ?????????? How can this bag be so well reviewed is a mystery... Perhaps at the time of sir Hillary it would have been a good one but nowadays winter sleeping bags are relatively waterproof to highly waterproof. This one can't hold condensation. If you have to spend several nights and mornings in foggy weather you'll quickly understand why winter bags need to be highly weather resistant. Pertex endurance which isn't even produced anymore by Pertex, is a breatheable fabric not a weather resistant one. A pertex shield is what's needed on something called an " expedition bag ". The downtech is a joke. Chemicals get easily washed when the bag get damp, and there is no any chemicals which protect down from making balls therefore making of a warm bag nothing more than a simple linen. Obviously it does the job when camping in a large tent on a nice campground. Yet it cannot be used for expeditions unless you're ready to carry several extra kilos for a heavy duty winter tent. Perhaps at the time of sir Hillary, there were sherpas to carry the extra load. Nowadays we have good gear, to minimize weight and maximize efficiency. It's light and warm. Good for a short winter hike when the weather is cold and dry. Unfortunately mountain weather is versatile and at - 15 °C, humidity and condensation are still possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Purchase ever! I just recently bought this bag and I am so happy with my purchase! It's defiantly the best sleeping bag that I have ever owned. It lofts up just like the picture and is extremely warm. When it was delivered to me I slipped into it and was very hot almost instantly so it will defiantly hold up in those cold climates! I really like the draft collar inside the bag, and the tightening on the hood to close around your face. When the bag is on sale, it's very hard to find a bag better than this one :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best sleeping bag I've owned I took this Sleeping Bag to Northern Pakistan and slept in it in the harshest of environments. It was amazing - Not only did it stand up to the tough alpine trip, but it kept me super warm in temperatures that plummeted well below zero. Specs wise - the feather fill is warm and puffs up after being stored, nothing leaked from the stitching. The zipper is really smooth plus the water protection protected me from the dew sleeping out. It was awesome to get to the end of a day of adventuring and know this bag was waiting!! Cheers Kathmandu for a great product!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works Im not gear snob, I buy what works. Excellent bag for the money. Yes! this is NOT an expensive bag. You could spend twice as much for a bag that does the same job. My old Polaris has served me 4 seasons working in the Arctic, only bought a new one to take my son with me last season. Season 6 coming up. Layers is always the key and as for size.... get a compression bag. Happy Adventures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag for longterm use!! I bought this bag a year ago and slept in it almost every night in a hut or camping for 6 months while doing the South Island Te Araroa and an extended cycletour of NZ over summer and then a 2 month walk through Scotland in springtime. It has stood up well to heavy use; though I did use a silk liner to protect it. The zips still work well and nil feathers have leaked from stitching. I have washed it 3-4 times as per the instructions and it has puffed up well again. Was grateful for the water protection as this stopped it getting drenched from condensation in the tent some mornings. I was never cold - though was obviously tramping/camping at lower altitudes; not mountaineering in very cold temperatures. In warm temperatures was comfortable unzipped. It is not the smallest bag but does compress well - I bought a 2-6L waterproof compression sack and kept it in that while travelling. This sleeping bag has been a great investment - I'm always grateful to get into it at the end of a long day and know it will keep me warm and dry. Thanks Kathmandu for a great product!!!
