The Configure Wing is a lightweight, easy-to-pitch shelter that cleverly extends covered living space outside of our Retreat tents. Use it to join tents, create a communal outdoor living area, or storage space for bikes and other gear. The Configure Wing can also be used on its own as a stand-alone shelter.

Very Good and Not So GoodExcellent quality materials which should provide a long life if maintained properly. This shelter is very versatile as being so large it allows, with some imagination and experience, different styles of shelter to be erected when not used with other tents. However, hikers and backpackers beware! At 1.78 kg this item is heavy and I recommend leaving the poles at home and using guy ropes and a rope ridge 'pole'. This item, with poles, is a good medium weight camping kit when transported by a vehicle. Recommended with these caveats.

Good size shelter, can use in different configurations with shorter walking poles too. Easy to set up by myself, easy to pack up and very lightweight.

We used this on our 280 tent over the break. Due to campsite boundaries, change in wind direction and privacy we chose to have or 280 tent opening at the middle door, and struggled to attach the fly to the tent to give protection over the middle door opening. If selling a item as compatible with other tents, please make sure it can actually attach to all the openings of the tent. Seems a good product, but to be would be great if it was clear which tent openings it is comparable with.

AwesomeBeen using this for a week camping. We tried it on the end of our 360, but found it suited us more to use it standalone. Provides a welcome piece of shade in the hot weather. If you can’t have a hub and need a bit of shade it’s good value.

Not Compatible with Retreat 80 tentWe have a Retreat 80 tent and recently bought the Retreat Configure Wing to accompany it, however; when attempting to set it up as per the supplied instructions, found it doesn’t attach to the tent on the “small” side, as described in the instructions, and doesn’t reach the ground on the “Large” side to peg down. Perhaps this is due to an error in the instructions. The shelter spent the entirety of our trip away in the boot of The car.

A brilliant idea!A great addition to my Retreat 80. It allowed me to remain dry whilst getting in and out of my tent even during the heaviest rain and provided that extra bit of living space.
Not the easiest thing to set up by one person, especially in the windy conditions. I did have to take it down on several occasions when the wind became too strong, it was just fine in normal conditions.
It also gave a bit more privacy with people unable to see directly into the tent when I the wing was attached.

The MacGyver of shelters and more posh than a tarpEven though we don't have a Kathmandu tent, with a bit of Kiwi ingenuity this shelter snugged on to our 3 person dome tent using the door retainer loops and guy line loops on our tent to attach the wing. We found that applying a bit more cunning and a couple of carabiners, we could rig the open tent doors to the webbing loops on the edge of the wing for even more shelter from the wind.
Transformed our humble dome tent into a tent mansion for not much of a weight penalty, the amount of extra living space you get is awesome and will save us from having to do the dome tent rain jive when it's raining, yeah you know the one, open the door just enough to do a rapid bend 'n wriggle to the vestibule then the back wrench twist to zip the door back up before the Niagara Falls get in.
The wing is very versatile, we found we could attach the wing to either end of our tent, and with some carabiners, Velcro loops or a bit of paracord you could spend your time in camp devising all sorts of configurations.
Well that was the good, now the bad and ugly.......
The only thing that's stops a 5 star rating is the supplied pegs and poles.
With no point on the thin steel pegs its easy to bend the pegs when staking out in sun baked dirt and with only a 90' degree bend at the top of the peg, its doesn't hold the guy line as securely as a 'V' bend, even when hammered all the way into the ground, we substituted spare pegs from our tent for the supplied ones for peace of mind.
The steel poles do the job, but alloy poles with shock cord rather than the cord and wire loops would be much more durable, suitable for our salty air and allow for a smaller packed size.

Not compatible with ALL retreat tents! We purchased this product and a retreat 60 tent to go with our current retreat 60 tent. Unfortunately the configure wing is compatible with all retreat tent models EXCEPT the retreat 60.
