Could you set up with one person?

Asked by: Dan E
This could be possible but may be difficult when tensioning the poles. We recommend at least 2 people for pitching this tent

Hi, we are the family of 5 including kids mainly but just wondering can the middle room serve as an additional sleeping room if needed? Thanks

Yes definitely, it just depends how you would like to set up your tent

I live in Thames NZ and can easily access Hamilton, Auckland or Tauranga. Can you tell me where I can view your tent range while the tents are erect. Thank you, John

Asked by: John 101
Depending on the size of the store and the size of the tents, there are a few stores around Auckland that have various different tents pitched in store. I recommend trying these stores as listed, or if there is a specific tent you want to see rather than just the range it might be handy to give the store a call and see if they have this specific tent pitched. - Takapuna - Albany - Sylvia Park - Waitakere - Silverdale

How tall is the tent in each of the sections? Would a camping portable bunkbed fit in either the front or back?

Asked by: ella_24
Internal height of the living room is approx.195cm. Sorry, we don't have records of the average roof height of bedrooms here. Also, both bedrooms (front & back) fit Retreat Dual Use Bunk Bed, https://www.kathmandu.co.nz/retreat-dual-use-bunk-bed.html.

Customer Reviews

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor quality, not made like they used to Purchased this model approximately four years ago. Has perished to the point there are rips appearing, two poles have broken and guy ropes ripped off the tent. Very disappointing as the previous Kathmandu tent we owned for 15 years before requiring an upgrade due to larger space required.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the right size for our downsizing Brought this tent last week and used it straight on a family camp for scouts. We currently have the 360 and its just too big for us now that our son has gotten bigger and doesn't sleep in it. We have had the 360 for 6 years and have had no problems with it, just too big and has been through storms and winds etc. I was able to put the 280 up and down by myself with only a person to help with the holding of the black poles on raising the tent. Overall the tent has lots of room for everything and i mean everything. Will be using it again for 5 days at Easter and should be all good. Great Tent. Took us 12 months to buy after reviewing and looking at lots of alternatives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good family space Purchased the 280 tent when previous tent was destroyed in a wind gust while we were out. This tent has good stability and peg down points all around. Good space for sleeping in and eating and playing in on a wet day. Thinking of adding a module for more space when cap ground area is big enough or when we just want a wind break for a picnic

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good! We looked around at various designs and wanted something decent that was comfortable for the family - 3 of us. Even though this sleeps up to 5 people it meant that we have more than enough space between us. We even purchased the Kathmandu children’s bunks and put that in one end where our daughter sleeps on top, and we store our bags on the bottom bunk. The tent itself was easy to put up, and fairly straight fwd to pack away, although I would say that nothing is ever as easy to get back in the bag as it comes out. The tent has plenty of little pockets and vents to keep it fresh, so it doesn’t get stuffy. Overall, after our first camping trip, it did the job and we are thankful that we spent a bit more to get a quality tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job. Was looking for a big lightweight tent that was easy to setup. This met the spec. It was windy when we were camping. The tent stood up to the highwinds, but needed all the guy ropes well anchored. Other tents in the camp ground failed in the wind. It is a good summer ten, albiet noisy in the wind.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Can’t fit bunks We just got two of these. One for the adults to sleep in and one for the kids, both to come off a compass hub. Set all three up, then went to put beds in. Due to the narrowing of the sleeping compartment the Kathmandu kids bunks can’t fit down one side, leaving room for bags of clothes etc (which was our plan). In the adults sleeping compartment (in the other tent) we had two camp stretches. Again due to the narrowing of the room the beds are at a weird angle leaving not much room for anything else. In hindsight when we saw this tent set up in store it had a double blow up bed in it. Kids bunks are now put out as single beds.. If you like this tent try out the beds you want to go in it first. It’s better to be disappointed in store than out camping. Love how it fits so well into the Compass hub!!!! I also like the fully enclosed floor which gives lots of space for things to be stored. On the above two reasons I would recommend it however based on the actual sleeping space I wouldn’t recommend.
