XT Fitzgerald Unisex ngx Mountaineering Boots is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tramping NZ forests So far have trapped 6 days in the Kaimais going up to maximum 600 metres - so all in forest on muddy tracks below the tops. Boots are very easy to take off at end of 8 hours of tramping - don't have to wrestle them at end of day and also slip on next morning sitting in cold wet tent. Very rigid boot from the ankle to the toe end as rated for alpine use in icy/rocky environment - would not be comfortable on a long road bash - as feels a bit like walking in a ski boot on flat hard surfaces. Buy a size larger than your normal footwear as you need plenty toe room as no give in the rand. Heavy, rugged, well made boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Boots I bought these boots five weeks ago and have found them to be a suberb boot in the snow. I have already used them on eight ascents of Mt Egmont in soft and hard conditions and they handle it all. I really bought them for late season use but have found them to be such a warm boot I suspect that I will use them throughout the winter next year. The only thing I can suggest to improve them would be to have a bit more height on the rear above the clip-on crampon step as I find I have to take care not to latch the lever onto the top edge of the sole. Making smaller sizes would be a good idea to suit women with smaller feet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing stability and comfort I bought this a month ago and have done a few walks in them. They are amazingly comfortable and well suited for tough rocky, wet, off the beaten trail paths. You don't even notice them on your feet after a whole day of walking. They are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The boot of boots! I purchased these a month ago after the striking color and aesthetically pleasing shape caught my eye. And once wearing them I can attest they are as comfortable as they are good looking. Of course they will require some wearing in as all good quality boots a good quality pair of leather gloves that stand the test of time. They are unisex and they look great on my wife. We have a trip planned to Tasmania in July and plan to really put them to the test. We have a number of treks planned with various terrain and difficulty levels and we're confident these boots will be the perfect foundation for all these occasions. We look forward to having these boots accompany us to other regions of the world.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the beginner mountaineer I bought these so I could get into alpine hiking, they are comfortable, very sturdy and handle crampons easily. They would probably not be suitable for hardcore mountaineers but if u are looking for an entry level boot these would work. I suffer from cold feet and while I felt the cold with these, i still had feeling and considering my feet spent more time in the snow then on it, it was great. These are a quality boot made in the same country that most of the other alpine boots are made and if u know anything about manufacturing u know what that will mean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The real deal I needed a quality boot to tackle the Makalu-Everest Traverse in Nepal in April 2017. The trail would vary from meadow, gravel, rock, boulders and snow. Stability, waterproofing and insulation was important, but more so comfort and good fit. I did purchase another brand's boot but found the fitting too narrow with training over 4 hours in above 30 degree temperatures. The XT NGX boot has a great lacing system and was able to accommodate a range of different sock thicknesses while still being supportive and comfortable. I trained for several months wearing these, doing about 30 kms each week, carrying between 18-30 kgs. Training included a 400m vertical descent/ascent walk in the Blue Mountains, and the more I wore them the more comfortable they were. On the trail in Nepal I did overheat initially but I was carrying a reasonable backpack weight, and 600m vertical descent followed by a 1100m vertical ascent in close to 30 C will do that. In both wet and snow these boots remained exceptional comfortable and remain a great investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic all around boots Fantastic all round hiking/mountaineering Italian made boots. Waterproof, quality Vibram soles and beautiful leather. B1 and B2 crampon compatible soles, as XT product tester states, if I could pick one boot for general purpose New Zealand tramping/mountaineering it would be this boot. Surprisingly comfortable boot as well. Bit pricey at full price but I got them for around $350 Aussie and at that price they represent sublime value for money.
