For technical hiking footwear with the stability and cushioning you need, go for the Aysen ngx Women’s Mid Boots. Relatively lightweight and comfortable, they’re built tough for multiday slogs. The heel and forefoot padding will absorb shock and get you bouncing along the track, while the boots’ neutral colours will blend into nature.
Specially designed lugs – to give you grip and traction
Bellows tongue to help keep dirt out
Gaiter hooks
Heel tags – easier to take your boots on or off
Questions & Answers
I bought a pair of these boots a month ago and so far so good, loved the hikes I've done in them. Now I'm planning to do Larapinta trail for 13days, would these boots suffice the purpose or should I get a pair of leather boots which are sturdier?
Asked by: KahoLarcrew
These boots have a vibram rubber sole and extra cushioning so these would be suitable for the Larapinta, especially if the soles have minimal wear. The Larapinta can be very hard on boots with the sharp quartz and granite rocks on the trail so the more tread and lugs on the sole the more suitable for the rocky terrain.

How do you think these shoes would go with support and comfort walking over rocky terrain on the Jatbula trail??
Asked by: Sharnee
The Aysen ngx Women’s Mid Boots would be a good choice for the Jatbula trail as they are lighter weight with the upper which is more comfortable in the heat and have good ankle support and robust sturdy sole for the rocky sections and crossings of the rocky creeks above the escarpment on the trail. Great trail! enjoy it!

Would these be suitable for the Tongariro Crossing in summer?
Asked by: Ellie2020
Yes, absolutely, the Aysen womens boots are hiking boots with good stability and cushioning. Whilst still being relatively lightweight the soles are sturdy enough for the Tongariro track and the scree/shingle sections on the crossing.

These shoes did an amazing job on yesterday’s hike. River crossings and lots of slippery rocks. Lightweight & comfortable. Let some water in on day 2 unfortunately. What’s the best way to dry/care for them? Partner threw out the care instructions!

Do these boots have any parts that are made of leather, suede or animal derived material? This page says the fabric is synthetic, but in store the label on the boots has a leather icon for the 'uppers' part.
Asked by: VC19
These boots are made from all synthetic materials however the glues that are used to bond these are generally animal based. The boots come with care instructions attached that include directions for both leather and synthetic boots.

Makes your toes blackHave worn these a few times & they're fine for the first hour or around the house but awful when you get to the top of mt & your toes hurt & need to get down yet! It wasn't a hard track at all but once I took them off when back at base I had blisters, black toenails & a wound where the top of the boot had been rubbing against my leg. I was with a big group & they know not to buy these! They keep your feet dry but would rather wear sneakers and get wet feet than not be able to wear shoes the following day!

Comfortable and do the job. These boots are very comfortable for all day wearing. The waterproofing is doing the job when walking across slushy reserves and when I misjudge the tide.
I was advised by the shopkeep that the sole isn't designed for hardcore rock hiking and I tend to think he's right but the trade-off is a comfortable pair of well made boots. If he hadn't given me that advice then maybe I would rate them lower?

Super comfyI brought a while ago. Wear them everyday for dog walking jobs. Good grip handles the wear and tear well and I forgot I’m wearing these abd often feel like I’m living in them.
