GORE-TEX^® fabrics are constructed by laminating the famous GORE-TEX^® membrane to high performance textiles. Membrane pores are 20,000 times smaller than a water drop & 700 times larger than a water vapour molecule. This means that rain can't get in but your perspiration can get out.

GORE-TEX^® fabrics are also treated with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) that makes water bead up & roll off, ensuring maximum performance in extreme conditions. GORE-TEX^® PACLITE^®
The new GORE-TEX^® PACLITE^® product uses a protective layer on the membrane made from an oil-hating substance & carbon. This oil-hating, or oleophobic substance allows water vapour to pass through, but is a physical barrier that prevents contamination from foreign substances which could otherwise affect the waterproof performance. No separate lining is required in the item of clothing, which means that GORE-TEX^® PACLITE^® clothing is lighter & smaller to pack away.

Kathmandu Preferred Nylon
The nylon fibre used on our garments provide outstanding performance in the outdoors. Its tensile strength is higher than that of wool, silk, rayon or cotton giving you superior technical performance in garments that retain their shape through years of wash and wear. Low moisture absorbency prevents ‘water-logging’ and gives you easy-care and quick drying benefits. Nylon fabric is resilient and manages moisture efficiently to keep you comfortable during a wide range of outdoor activities.

Socks

New Zealand Merino Wool. Suitable for wearing all year round in a range of conditions and activities. The key benefits of merino wool include being comfortable and soft to wear against the skin, possessing moisture and thermal control, odour resistance, plus being durable and easy to care for.

Isolwool. Ideal for extreme cold and adverse condition, Isolwool combines 50% wool and 50% polypropylene creating a soft yarn with improved abrasion resistance and strenght, plus thermal control for even extreme cold conditions and a reduced drying time.

COOLMAX yarn. Well suited for active use and wear in hot and humid conditions due to its excellent moisture management properties.

Comfortrel XP. Engineered for superior breathabilitiy and moisture management with a soft, natural touch, Comfortrel XP has excellent shape retention, superb pill resistance and fantastic overall performance.
