A 16,000km bicycle adventure around the Australian continent. This is the dream for three young Sydney students who want Australia to be more active on the issue of sustainability. Their function is to link Australians, no matter what their budget, to actions, organisations and ideas to power their lives more efficiently.
‘We believe Australia is the best place on earth and hope that our grandchildren will have the same opportunity to feel this way. While chasing the endless coastline by bicycle, MyPOWER aims to deliver lifestyle options that the individual can make in order to keep our country healthy’.
Ultimately, money spent on healthy environmental changes will result in something that is priceless, and it is this pricelessness that we three students will be in search of on our journey. ‘Let’s make Australia a country that improves the well-being of the planet and is an example to other nations. For the sake of tomorrow, power yourself today’.
It is a grand plan that would not be possible without Kathmandu quality outdoor equipment that is strong enough to last twelve months of constant use and light enough to be packed into our bike trailers. Versatile Kathmandu tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping mats will house our team from the harshest of Australian environments - from the cold Tasmanian highlands, across the windy Nullarbor Plain, through the sweltering heat of the Kimberleys, and past the Great Barrier Reef which Australians stand to lose if climate change continues.
It is important to our team that Kathmandu stocks all cycling accessories such as comfortable bike shorts, cycle computers, and tools, but also that Kathmandu offer an alternative renewable range of EnactTM clothing made from hemp, organic cotton, and recycled milk bottles. In order to live our dream we rely on this diverse mix of materials technology and environmental forward thinking.
The time to power our lifestyles more efficiently was yesterday. This is why the MyPOWER Team will circumnavigate Australia by bicycle in 2008 to encourage small revolutions in the way we all live. Because Everybody Has Powers.
